Got back from church and me and Cathy went to the gym to do some cardio. We were going to go to the hot tub after our cardio workout but it was closed so we just went home. I was particularly proud of Cathy she did 20 minutes on the sitting Exercycle and then did another 10 minutes on the stair climber. She is getting good and we will be on our way to our goal in no time. At church I was talking to Steve and I was not aware that he was into weight lifting as much as I am. I really hope that we can become workout partners because I really need the motivation. Cathy really tries and God bless her but you sometimes need someone that is going through the same thing as you are to really motivate you. I hope that doesn't make me sound like a shallow or callous moron because I really didn't mean it that way. Anyway, I am going to check out that 24 hr gym that is by the church and see if it has the equipment that I need to make my goals. I really hope so because it is really cheap. Well I am going to go because I have to get some rest for tomorrow.

My workout:

Cardio:
Treadmill, 4.5 mph pace, burnt 350 calories, went 4 miles, last 10 min of workout ran at 6.5 mph pace. Entire workout lasted 30 minutes.

God Bless

Day 4

Whew.....Tonight was tough. I did a lot of lat and back so much so that I maxed out early on the Bicep excercises. All in all though it was a good work out. My arms are really tight right now so this is going to be really short. My routine tonight was back and biceps. The stats are as follows:

Cardio:
sitting excercise cycle, 20 min, level 10, 5 miles, burnt 300 calories, fat burning setting

Back:

sitting lat pull:
set 1: 110 lbs 10 reps
set 2: 120 lbs 10 reps
set 3: 130 lbs 8 reps
set 4: 140 lbs 6 reps

standing row:
set 1: 100 lbs 10 reps
set 2: 110 lbs 8 reps
set 3: 120 lbs 6 reps

standing bicep curl:
set 1: 70 lbs 10 reps
set 2: 80 lbs 8 reps
set 3: 90 lbs 4 reps

sitting row:
set 1: 120 lbs 10 reps
set 2: 130 lbs 8 reps
set 3: 140 lbs 8 reps

dead lift:
set 1: 120 lbs 10 reps
set 2: 130 lbs 10 reps
set 3: 140 lbs 8 reps

I am kinda bummed about my performance with the bicep curl but that gives me something to work on. I have devised a program that will have me working out Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. I will be doing cardio everyday of the week though. The routine i made up is Monday: chest and triceps, Tuesday: back and biceps, Wednesday: off, Thursday: shoulders/traps/abs, Friday: legs. I started the routine tonight with chest and triceps and after the warm ups over the weekend.....wow. My chest is tight right now. The only thing that i am kinda bummed about the facilities here at my complex does not have a machine that will work the lower and inside part of my pecs. I am afraid that after a few months of working out here I will have to move onto an actual gym that has the proper machines that I can do a total work out. I am going to make this one a little shorter than normal because I want to relax with Cathy before bed. My workout tonight was:

Cardio:
Sitting exercise cycle, 4 miles, strength training program, burnt 300 calories

Weight training:
Incline bench press:
set 1: 80 lbs 10 reps warm up
set 2: 80 lbs 10 reps warm up
set 3: 100lbs 8 reps main workout
set 4: 120lbs 6 reps main workout

Decline bench press:
set 1: 80 lbs 10 reps main workout
set 2: 100lbs 8 reps main workout
set 3: 120lbs 6 reps main workout

Tricep cable press:
set 1: 80 lbs 10 reps main workout
set 2: 90 lbs 8 reps main workout
set 3: 100lbs 6 reps main workout

Love you all

Day 2

Today was going to be a light day with the cardio. I only did a little on the treadmill but hit the weights pretty good. I concentrated on the upper body again because that is where I want to improve the most. I figure that it the most work that I am going to have to do. I don't know if I can but when I get to my target I would like to maybe enter an amateur contest. I guess that maybe a pipe dream but I don't know, maybe. I think it would be kinda fun. Tonight was really cool though because Kirsti came to the gym with us tonight. She only did the tradmill then just watched Cathy and I but that was ok because she was there. At least she did something and not just sit there and whine!!!! I just hope that she sticks with it because marching season is over and she doesn't need to just sit around and watch T.V. . I am trying to get the other two to at least come down there with us. They stayed home tonight but I am still trying. Any way I am going to make this short because it is late and I have to get up tomorrow morning and go to work. Here is my progress for tonight:

Treadmill: 30 min @4.5mph burnt 350 calories and went 2.4 miles
Military pull : 120lbs 3 sets of 10 reps
Front pull sitting: 120 lbs 3 sets of 10 reps
Tricep press : 120 lbs 3 sets of 10 reps
Lat Pull : 100 lbs 3 sets of 10 reps

Anyway that is what I did tonight. Talk to ya tomorrow. I will try and add some features on this later.

Day 1

Well i have been thinking about doing this for a while and have finally done it. I have really started this in order to document my progress on my work outs. You see I have gotten back into the gym. My goal is to be back at my work out schedule and ability that I was in the Marine Corps. I know that I cannot be back at the same size that I was when I was in the Marine Corps but I want to be back at the same physical level that I was when I was in. My ultimate goal is to be back in shape and physique for this summer. I have been embarrassed long enough and thought that I would do something about it finally. I guess the straw that broke the camel's back was the Friday after Christmas when I was at the park with my family and my sister and brother in law and we were playing sports and running around. I couldn't believe that I could run like I used to. My mind set was still when I was in the Marines and when my body said "NO" i couldn't believe my eyes. I said to myself right then and there that I was going to do something about it. I figured on the first of the year because that is a pivotal start in both the literal and mental senses.

Well after all that being said me and Cathy went tonight for the first time. The funny part of it was that we almost talked each other out of it and then we both said that we need to start tonight or we won't get the program started at all because we will make excuses every time. Needless to say it was GREAT. I absolutely love the feeling after I work out. It makes me feel like a kid again back in the Marines. I love the feeling when I look in the mirror at the gym and I can see the progress that is being made. The best part of tonight is that me and Cathy worked out together. We have never done that, we always have gone our separate ways when it comes to working out. She has gone with her friends and I have gone with mine. I loved it when I got to motivate her and when she was motivating me on the machines. Wow as you can tell I am still on a work out high!!! Well here is my progress so far:

4 miles on the treadmill at 4 mph pace lasted 1 hour burnt 568 calories
Did 3 sets of 10 on biceps with 90 lbs
Did 3 sets of 10 on triceps with 90 lbs
Did 3 sets of 15 on bench press with 90 lbs
Did 1 set of 10 on military pull with 130 lbs ( I was just messing around showing Cathy how but i figured I would list it)

Anyway that's my first day I know the weights are a little....OK a lot.... on the low side but I didn't want to tear a muscle on day 1. Thanks for reading and keep me in your prayers for progress and strength (literally and spiritually). If you want to comment I would greatly appreciate it, it will really help me in keeping me in line and you can help keep me accountable. Love you and God Bless.
